1. Who we are
Solar Setup Calculator (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an off-grid solar system design tool. The App helps you size a solar panel + battery + inverter system for your home or off-grid location.
This privacy policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. What we collect
2.1 If you don’t sign in
The App is local-first. If you use the App without creating an account, no personal information is sent to our servers. Your setups, appliance lists, and preferences stay on your device.
The only network requests in this mode are:
- Geographic sun-hour data (optional). If you tap “Refresh from NASA POWER” on the home screen, the App sends your selected location’s latitude and longitude to NASA’s POWER API. No account, email, or device identifier is sent.
- City search (optional). If you search for a city using world-search, the App sends your search query to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. No account, email, or device identifier is sent.
- In-app purchase verification. If you purchase the Pro one-time unlock, our payment processor RevenueCat receives your device identifier and Apple/Google’s purchase receipt to confirm the purchase. RevenueCat does not receive your email, name, or any of your setup data.
2.2 If you sign in
When you sign in (via email magic-link, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In), we collect:
- Your email address (always required for sign-in).
- Your name, only if you signed in with Apple or Google and chose to share it.
- Your saved setups, appliances, and preferences. These are synced to our cloud storage so you can access them on other devices.
This data is stored on Supabase Inc.’s servers hosted in eu-west-1 (Frankfurt, EU). It is associated with your account.
Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In are operated by their respective providers and follow their own privacy policies. We do not receive any data those providers collect about you beyond the email + name described above.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Operate the App’s features (signing you in, syncing your setups across devices).
- Verify your in-app purchase entitlement.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
We do not use your information for:
- Advertising. We do not show ads.
- Tracking or analytics. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Crashlytics, Sentry, or similar tools.
- Selling or sharing with third parties beyond the service providers listed below.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers required to operate the App:

We do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data. Email [email protected] to request a copy.
- Delete your account and all associated data. Use the “Delete account” option inside the App’s Profile screen, or email us.
- Export your saved setups. Open any setup and tap “Save PDF” to export it as a file you control.
- Opt out of cloud sync. Sign out of the App; your local data stays on the device.
- Object to processing or request correction. Email us.
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California, you have rights under CCPA. We do not sell personal information.
6. Data retention
- If you have an account: your data is kept while your account is active.
- If you delete your account: all associated data is deleted from our servers within 30 days.
- Local data on your device: stays on the device until you delete the App or clear its storage.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls on our backend. No online service is 100 % secure, and you use the App at your own risk.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will be highlighted in the App on next open.
